A New Roo For You

You all think you know Killeroo? Bah! You don’t know diddly, not yet…
Hi, I’m Simon J. Green, and I’ve been granted the heavenly right to create and script the next Killeroo adventure. I emailed Darren with a pitch, all nicely formatted in a handsome PDF, replete with imagery and attention to detail, only to discover I was completely off the mark with how Mr. Close envisioned his big red. Instead, a rapid back-and-forthing of emails ensued as I drew out all the little scraps of information Darren has ever formulated in his brain-case. He got really excited with the idea of telling a Killeroo story arc that actually built on the character, establishing him as an ongoing player in his own world. For my part, I’m just as keen to help him realise his vision as well as demonstrate my dedication to someone else’s character and IP. This is his baby, and I really want to work with him so you can enjoy the result.
What you’ll see here over the next few weeks is me scraping my brain and process together as Darren and I work our way towards a multi-issue miniseries that portrays Rufus the way he was meant to be. I’m excited to write the type of stories hinted at in the character, but never fully explored in the books. We’re making sure we don’t tread on the previous writers’ excellent pieces. Without them, I wouldn’t be here. Point in case, we’re actually drawing a little on two stories already published, so my gratitude and debt go to you who wrote and drew the roo before me. I hope I do you all proud.
